Titanium Grade Specifications Guide
Comprehensive guide to titanium grades including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and applications for each grade.
Commercially Pure Titanium Grades
Grade 1 (CP-Ti): Lowest strength, highest ductility. Excellent corrosion resistance. Used in chemical processing and medical applications.
Grade 2 (CP-Ti): Most widely used grade. Good balance of strength and formability. Applications include aerospace, marine, and architectural.
Grade 3 (CP-Ti): Higher strength than Grade 2. Used in aerospace and chemical processing.
Grade 4 (CP-Ti): Highest strength among CP grades. Used in surgical implants and aerospace components.
Alpha-Beta Alloys
Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V): The workhorse alloy. Accounts for approximately 50% of total titanium usage. Excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V): Lower alloy content than Grade 5. Better formability and weldability.
Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI): Extra low interstitial version of Grade 5. Used in biomedical applications.
